Mritoyr- as death
Mukshayae- that leads to moksha, or release from the cycle of birth and death
mamritat- immortality

It is prescribed to chant the mantra 108 times. Many people chant the mantra on a Rudraksha rosary which consists of 108 beads that are used to count the number of chants of this powerful mantra.
The numbers "1" , "0" , "8" separately signify 'oneness' , 'nothingness' and 'everything' respectively. Together, they depict the ultimate reality of the universe that it is one, empty and infinite all at once.
The Vedic Mathematical explanation of the number 108 is associated with the distance of the Sun and the Earth and also the Earth and the Moon which is 108 times the diameter of the Sun and the Moon respectively.
Almost, all powerful mantras are prescribed to be chanted 108 times. Hence, chanting mahamrityunjaya mantra 108 times is supposed to surround your environment with the all pervading Shiva energy and healing.
What happens when we chant Maha Mrityunjaya mantra?
